Running plugins in separate processes adds much to a web browser’s stability as a crash in a plugin could, and usually would, result in a browser crash as well if everything was handled under one process. With out-of-process plugins on the other hand the only damage that is done is to the plugin’s process which gets restarted, the rest of the browser is not taken down with that plugin crash anymore.   • Some websites reported already yesterday that the first release candidate of Firefox 3.6 has been uploaded to the Mozilla ftp server. This was actually not the case as they linked to a nightly build and not the final release candidate build. Having said that it is likely that the two versions are identical. Firefox 3.6 RC1 is currently being uploaded to ftp mirror sites worldwide to ensure a fluent distribution once the automatic update check in the web browser recognizes the web browser update. The latest version of the popular web browser is currently transferred to mirror servers worldwide to ensure another error and lag free updating experience for Firefox users who will begin to update their web browser shortly after the official announcement of the release has been made.

  • Google Chrome only takes approximately 16 months to go beyond Apple’s Safari, the browser market. Net Application data show Chrome is in third with approximately 4.63 percent over browser market, while Safari slumped to fourth position with 4.46 percent.

    Release: Opera Said Happy New Year with Release Opera 10.50 Pre-Alpha

  • While everyone else in the world has been partying all night the Opera desktop team developers have decided to add a little bit of work to that partying. They are the first to release a new web browser version in the new year. The new build of their upcoming Opera 10.50 web browser is still a pre-alpha build. The two most notable changes to the last public release of Opera 10.50 pre-alpha are the support of the HTML 5 video element and stability fixes.

    The Unix version of Opera 10.50 has undergone some changes as well, most notable the removed dependency on the QT libraries which caused a problem for users who wanted to install the browser but did not have the libraries installed. Continue Reading »

    Browser: SRWare Iron 4 RC Released!

  • SRWare Iron is a web browser that is based on the Chromium source code that is also powering the Google Chrome web browser. The main difference between Iron and Google Chrome is that the developers of Iron have removed privacy related issues from the code. This includes things like the unique client ID, error reporting or Google Updater which is a program that is automatically started with Windows.
